Instagram x Arjowiggins

Academia | D&AD

Instagram has become part of our daily lives nowadays. We could share our everyday status to everyone we know on the internet. As we can ‘Like’, share and comment on each of those photo feed. In other words, a paperless interactive platform. But, is it really an ideal way to share and store your memories?

Cold posting a photo of a special moment replace traditional photo albums that we share with our friends and families from time to time?

Installation

The design concept of the collaborative D&AD competition, therefore, aims to challenge this worldwide paperless social network system by bringing together Arjowiggins, a French paper manufacturer and Instagram together to build a giant interactive installation. The installation consists over 50 laters of hanging paper, made with Arjowiggins paper, using the colour palette of the Instagram logo to form a cube-like space. The hollow space at its focal point becomes a room within the public plaza for the audience to relax, play with different types of paper Arjowiggins and to share their interesting feeds with paper.

Souvenirs inside the installation are printed from various Arjowinggins papers. Illustration of nine European landmarks is created using embossed and hot stamp technique on the Instagram colour paper.
